Down to Earth Food was created by Certified Natural Food Chef, Caroline Wallace, whose enthusiasm for food extends well beyond the kitchen. As a child she spent a lot of time in gardens and farms, eating fresh fruits and vegetables at the height of the season. Growing up in a family of foodies instilled in her an appreciation for the homemade approach—using only the best ingredients and creating meals with imagination and care.

“Our family always sat down together around the dinner table and enjoyed

delicious homemade meals that we all helped to prepare. The TV was

turned off and candles were lit. Dinner was a special time—we shared the

details of our day and just spent time being a family. That tradition is still

alive in our family and I have experienced first-hand how food brings

families, friends and communities together. For me, cooking and offering

food is a simple expression of love”.

Down to Earth Food is the result of a love for good food and a good life. Our core principles and values of health, community, education, service, the environment, personal responsibility and conscious choice are the foundation of our services. We share in the growing collective awareness that our personal choices affect our lives and the lives of future generations.

Caroline is working with non-profit organizations in San Francisco providing cooking instruction and chef services to homeless children, at-risk youth and disabled adults.
In 2008 she participated as a guest chef for
Slow Food Nation’s Eat-In in Dolores Park and in January 2009 she worked with Alice Waters to help coordinate Art.Food.Hope. Inaugural Suppers in Washington D.C.

Caroline received her education and training as a Natural Chef at Bauman College in Berkeley, California. She is certified in Permaculture from the Regenerative Design Institute in Bolinas, California. Her background as an artist and designer is reflected in the creative use of form, color, texture, flavor and presentation of her food. Her love for traveling is a constant source of inspiration and her food is infused with flavors from around the world.
